EPHEMERAL STRUCTURES IN ATHENS
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

Ephemeral Structures in the City of Athens Competition, which proposed the construction of multi-purpose structures to house various activities during the Olympic Games in Athens. Made between October - November 2002. We wanted a space that, more than able to open itself to the exterior, was able to re-invent itself completely each time it was built on different locations.
The structure is based on a square module. This can provide three different solutions, three possible configurations: 1. an object of 5 by 10 meters (50 sqm), 2. of 7 by 7 meters (49 sqm), 3. of 3 by a 16 meters (48 sqm). The facade is composed of four modules, with an overall height of 4.5m.
The ground support system is made of one per one metre concrete slabs. The interior exhibition space allows for several configurations and different spatial solutions for varying types of exhibitions. On the outside it allows for different skin possibilities, to be determined on site.
