House refurbishment in Meijinhos, Lamego. The project was done during 2004. It consists on the refurbishment of a 18th century ruin. Two storeys, with a footprint of 55 sqm, on a plot of some 73.000 sqm. The ruin is located on an exceptional setting in terms of both natural environment and landscape.

The existing construction is a structure of two floors, which originally was used as an agricultural shelter. The south elevation has the full two storeys height and two openings, the north one has only a floor height, with both west and east elevations bearing no openings.

The project consists on the rehabilitation of the structure, maintaining the existing massing. Functionally, we place the bedroom and sanitary facilities areas on the ground floor, while the upper floor will have living room and kitchen. We build a new slab for the first floor and a new support system for the roof, with the same type of tile, and repeating the existing volume.
